Hello watchers and wanderers, So, in my Merry Christmas 2023 post, I mentioned that I'd explain how my situation has evolved since New Years 2023, for better and for worse... Here are the changes towards the worse: No progress has been made on recovering the data from my old computer. I last contacted the recovery service (Gillware) on March 22ⁿᵈ, my birthday, to consent to them dismantling my computer in order to recover it. The price tag came to $2,500 for the full procedure. I have that money, but for... complicated reasons, my parents are in control of it, and they are refusing to allow me to make make such a large purchase. They've been asking me to try and find another place to that will do it for less, but I've been hesitating on that because I know such a discovery process will be extremely slow and difficult with my current computer, and I really doubt there is as much of a price differential between reliable data recovery vendors as they seem to believe there is.
